Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Ibrar Hussain

I joined the charity in September 2025, bringing with me a wealth of experience and knowledge from the voluntary and further education sectors. I have a strong background in fundraising, teaching, and tackling inequalities in deprived communities. My passion lies in supporting people to access opportunities, improve their quality of life, and achieve long-term positive change.

With my leadership, I aim to take Scholemoor Beacon into the next phase of its growth and development. I am proud to be taking over from the former Centre Manager, who has served the community with dedication for the past 10 years. Building on this strong foundation, I look forward to leading the organisation into a bright and ambitious future.

Development Worker – Children and Young People Lead

Matthew Milnes

I have been involved with Scholemoor Beacon since 2006 and had a pivotal role in the development of the sports ground and successfully secured funding from Sport England to run the Communitys Sports Activator project.

I am responsible for developing and coordinating new activities at the centre. I take the lead on Scholemoor Youth Action Group, Bike to the future Project and all holiday scheme activities.

I love working in the community meeting new people within different aspects in their lives.
Even if I make only a small difference, I am happy that I have made a difference to begin with!

I have loved coming back to work after a long time not working, and I love my job. My goal is to stay working in the community and continue helping to make a difference!

Community and Befriending Worker

Farhat Ayub

Having just recently returned to work after not working, my role as a Telephone Befriender has allowed me to get to know some of the residents of Scholemoor better and has given me the opportunity to provide companionship for those that are lonely or just want to hear a friendly voice as well as the chance to develop new relationships. I am also a resident of Scholemoor and a mother 3 kids.

I love every minute of my job and I hope, going forward, I can make a difference to our community and its residents no matter how big or small the impact may be. I look forward to meeting more of the residents of Scholemoor soon.

Child & Young Person Support Worker

Ishy Shaffi

Ishy runs our weekly marketplace and helps people to choose their fruit and vegetables. He also has set up a stall selling seocnd hand clothes, books and bric a brac. He is also a youth worker supporting Scholemor Youth Action Group and Holiday Activities. Alongside his work at Scholemoor Beacon, he is a qualified football coach and coaches 2 local team as well as Football for Peace which provides free football sessions for children at the University of Bradford. He lives nearby and is committed to improving opportunities for local people.

I have started my career in Scholemoor Beacon following  a sucessful work experience placement. I now work every week supporting the Ourtdoor adenture play sessions. I am working towards a semi professional career as a footballer, I currently play for Bradford Albions.

Community Play Activator

Caroline Goodwill

Caroline is a qualified Early Years Practioner with many years experience professionally and personally. She worked at Lidget Green Children’s Centre umtil it closed down. Caroline brings her wealth of experience to Scholemoor and she supports the Outdoor Adventure Play sessions, Stay and Play Toddler group and the Play Forum. During HAF she is invaluable member of the team leading on arts and crafts and theming our weeks. Who knew a large fridge/freezer box could be a yellow submarine one week and a space rocket the next.
