Ric Nield

Ric is our most recent recruit. An active member of the local church St Wilfirids he wants to see a more joined up approach with all active groups in Scholemoor and Lidget Green. He is a budding actor and is excited about what Bradford City of Culture will bring to the city.

Kate Lawton

Kate has returned for another stint as trustee for Scholemoor Beacon. She is an experienced fundraiser who has taken part in a parachute jump and fire walking for charity.

Kate is an excellent communicator and a good listener and loves to talk and listen to people. She knows the area well and lives in Scholemoor.

Nasima Sidat

I work for Bradford Council in the Safeguarding Department of Children’s services and I am the Safeguarding Lead for the board.

I have been attending the exercise class at Scholemoor Beacon for many years and live locally.

Graham Shaw

Graham has returned to the board following a 2 year break, he has remained a committed volunteer during his time off the board. Graham has lots of different skills including spreadsheets, DIY and getting computers to work. He is an invaluable as a volunteer and a trustee and will be keeping an eye on our finances until we can recruit a trustee from a financial background.

Luke Lyons

Luke brings a wealth of financial experience, with expertise in regulatory frameworks, strategic planning, and Microsoft Power platforms. As a trustee at Scholemoor Beacon, he is deeply committed to governance and community impact, applying his financial acumen to support sustainable initiatives. His passion for continuous learning drives him to make meaningful contributions, both within the industry and in community-focused roles.

Rowena Herbert

Rowena has lots of experience of being a Trustee  and worked for many years with NHS Digital in Leeds. She brings many different skills and approaches the role of trustee as a critical friend and always asks the question ” how can the board help?”

Gulshan Munir

Gulshan’s first contact with Scholemoor Beacon was during Covid when she was placed here as a council employee to support our work  during the crisis. After that role ended she stayed on as a trustee. She is very crafty and created a lovely tapestry with local people on their thoughts and feelings during the COVID pandemic.

She has now set up her own arts and crafts business and is sharing her skills with others.

Scholemoor is always looking for people to join our board!

Especially if you are local to the area, want to get involved with organising some great fun and empowering activities, and help become Scholemoor the best it can be.

We’re especially looking for younger people to join our group to make sure we have as many perspectives represented. We will give you all the support you need, and joining a board also looks great on your CV.
